A newly discovered second-century C.E. papyrus, recently acquired from Bedouin who found it in a Judean Desert cave, is dated in its first line to “Year 4 of the Destruction of the House of Israel,” a reference to the Roman takeover of Jerusalem after the Second Jewish Revolt, also known as the Bar-Kokhba Revolt.
