As the sun rose over the ancient city of Jerusalem this morning, over 1,500 Christian worshippers gathered to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
Christian believers from every continent participated in the annual Easter sunrise service, held at the Garden Tomb – also known as Gordon’s Calvary – the site argued by many Protestants as the authentic location of the burial and resurrection of Jesus 2,000 years ago. Over a quarter of a million international visitors are attracted annually to the crude rock-cut tomb, a visual reminder of authenticity of the Gospels.
The door at the entrance to the tomb reaffirms the biblical account of the Jewish Saviour. “He is not here,” the sign board reads. “For He has risen.”
